Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast
In January of 2015, the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce (SCSBCC) officially opposed offshore exploration and drilling for oil in the Atlantic and became the leading business organization along the East Coast on this issue.
As president and CEO of SCSBCC, Frank Knapp was called upon by national environmental organizations to represent the business community in 2015/2016 meetings with federal agencies. This effort was successful in having the Obama Administration remove the Atlantic Coast from its five-year plan for offshore oil drilling.
Later in 2016, Mr. Knapp co-founded the Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast (BAPAC). In addition to his leadership of the SCSBCC, Mr. Knapp served as BAPAC’s president/CEO and grew the organization to represent over 42,000 businesses along the East Coast.
Mr. Knapp stepped down from BAPAC’s board in 2018 to focus on leading South Carolina’s expected court battle and advocacy efforts to block offshore exploration and drilling for oil in the Atlantic.
