Small Business for America’s Future
In 2017, Frank Knapp was asked to co-chair Businesses for Responsible Tax Reform (BRTR), a new coalition of business leaders calling for public policy that truly benefits America’s small business owners, not just large corporations.
In particular, BRTR advocates for tax reform that helps Main Street small businesses grow and hire. That means tax relief targeted at smaller firms, not for corporations or giant businesses masquerading as “small.” BRTR advocates that Congress roll back the 40% corporate tax cut in the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act in order to fund policies that help small businesses.
In June of 2020, BRTR was re-branded and re-launched as Small Business for America’s Future (SBAF) with an expanded advocacy agenda:
- Create a fair and equitable COVID-19 recovery plan that supports Main Street.
- Correct market failures that have resulted in unbearably high healthcare costs and create affordable options for entrepreneurs and their employees.
- Common-sense tax policies that put small businesses on a level playing field with large corporations and correcting the failures of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.
- Create programs that promote the economic security of small businesses by addressing universal small business problems that make them less competitive with big business.
Mr. Knapp stepped down from co-chair of SBAF in 2022.
